I started checking out comics from my local library, borrowing from friends, and eventually I found out about Free Comic Book Day – and that got me into my local comic book shops. To be honest, I didn’t pay close attention to them until I co-wrote a play (for middle schoolers) about comic book writers. I have enjoyed the movies and the shows, but I never really collected comics as a kid. I have appreciated comic book characters my whole life.
